Herding
Rottweilers excel at the herding sport. They are generally a gathering dog with a strong desire to work. The history of the Rottweiler dates back to the Roman Empire where they were used to tend to the cattle. Rottweilers have a strong NATURAL instinct to herd stock which makes the training process easier. To reach the more advanced levels of herding competition the process can takes several years. However the road to this level is one of great fun and enjoyment for the dog and handler. Rottweilers want so very much to please their owners combined with their strong desire to work, herding is a natural sport for them and their owners.
